Little Freckle
Little Freckle

Little freckle on my foot you’ve been with me since birth.
For more than seventy years you’ve lived on this earth.
You’ve enjoyed my highs, you’ve endured my lows.
You’re well positioned, just inches from my toes.

You’ve taken corners and you’ve scored great goals.
You came with me when I saw the Dead Sea Scrolls.
I’ve bound you in leather, in canvas and in rubber.
You loved that reflexology - you little bugger.

As we grew up together, to take care of you I promised,
But I’m quite surprised you are still here if I’m honest.
At times you’ve been a very fickle freckle friend.
Like swelling up when I was away that weekend.

Nevertheless, my little freckle, I still love you to bits.
You seem to be happy just as long as the sock fits.
Let’s face it, eventually we’re going to die together.
When we do I’ll ensure you’re wearing patent leather.
